The focus of the edition of this year will be the challenges of the legal text and its translation: the current ones, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, or the past ones, caused by certain historical events or socio-cultural transformations. Permanent challenges, caused by differences between legal systems and cultures, between the source language and the target language, but also challenges such as the translator’s training, deadlines, and proper translations tools may be approached. Researchers in the field of translation studies and EU legislation, as well as translators and lawyer-linguists are invited to provide their expertise. The event will also include translation workshops. Thus, the conference comprises a practical component, useful to translators and those interested in a career in this field, as well as a theoretical and scientific component, which seeks to integrate the experience of legal translation into the reflection and analysis of translation practice, taking into account the linguistic evolution on a national and European level, the cultural transfer and the practical consequences in the legal field.
