The Faculty of Law of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iasi, in partnership with the Faculty of Computer Science, the National Institute for Training and Professional Development of Lawyers – Iasi Territorial Center and Hamangiu Publishing House are organizing
The fourth edition of the “Legal Perspectives on the Internet” International Conference – “The Ubiquity of Law in Cyberspace”
No matter how sustained the efforts of self-regulation in cyberspace have been and still are, the rules set are invariably breached and those whose rights have been disregarded or violated are seeking for solutions. Desirable or not, rules of law are necessary. In interpreting the existing ones and in the attempt of adapting and adjusting them to the new reality (sometimes, in the likes of a Procrustean bed) or in creating new provisions, legal experts cannot cope by themselves. An alliance between legal experts and IT professionals is mandatory when faced with current challenges.
For the fourth edition of the “Legal Perspectives on the Internet” International Conference – “The Ubiquity of Law in Cyberspace”, which will take place on October 31st 2020, starting 9 o’clock, we are inviting you to be actors in this endeavour and contribute to raising awareness of the reality that entails the conjoined efforts of specialists belonging to two fields that have become indispensable to one another by the force of technological evolution.
The Conference is addressed to legal experts from the academia, PhD students and practitioners, as well as IT professionals concerned with the legal scale of their work, as it is an opportunity to debate and find solutions to the complex interdisciplinary connections determined by the use of Internet.
The Organizing Committee invites all participants to an oral presentation of the papers addressing the topic of the Conference. The subjects approached in the papers can refer to any field regarding the use of Internet, and the final papers, after peer review, will be published in the Scientific Annals of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iasi, Juridical Sciences, a journal indexed in Hein Online and CEEOL international databases.
The following topics serve as examples: cybercrime, human rights (the right to a private life, the right to free speech etc.), e-governing and on-line administration, employee protection, national and international e-commerce, e-banking, unfair competition, consumer protection, personal data protection, intellectual property protection, artificial intelligence.
Keynote speakers – subject to confirmation/to be announced
Each participant can only submit one paper.
The deadline for conference registration is October 1st 2020.
